Susann began her riding career in Karlsruhe, Germany, training under classical master Egon von Neindorff. She earned her German National Federation Reiterabzeichen silver and bronze certifications, qualifying her to compete at the highest levels of both dressage and jumping throughout Europe.

That classical German foundation continues to guide her modern dressage training — developing softness, balance, and true partnership between horse and rider.

In 1995, Susann moved to Maui, where she became a founding member of the Hawaii State Dressage Society. In 1999, she relocated to California and has since become a highly respected member of the West Coast dressage community.

“Susann has continually brought genuine joy as well as a classically trained approach to her work,” notes Olympic rider Kathleen Raine. “With her depth of knowledge, skill, and her warm demeanor, she adds so much to the local dressage community and is an absolute pleasure to work with.”

Over the years, Susann has worked with leading trainers including Jutta Schott, Kathleen Raine, Christine Traurig and Steffen Peters. She currently clinics with Ulf Wadeborn and Lars Holmberg.

Susann has an extensive record of success in open dressage shows and in the dressage divisions at International Andalusian & Lusitano Horse Association competitions. Her proudest achievements, however, come from her students — riders and horses who grow more confident, balanced, and connected over time.

Training clients’ horses is only part of the job. “Helping my students maintain that training is what I really love,” she explains. “My goal is to make each horse truly rideable for its owner — that’s how they have a better time together.” Her program is rooted in the classical dressage training scale — no shortcuts or gimmicks, just correct basics and thoughtful, horse-first work.
